La force de la ligne, dans tout son mouvement, sa souplesse et son intimité, m’apostrophe. Les couleurs de terre, le rouge sang, le vert olive, le gris chaud et le bleu poudre viennent intensifier un mouvement ou simplement appuyer une ligne. Ce qui me guide? Le besoin de tracer l’essentiel dans un seul mouvement afin d’en conserver toute son intensité. La sanguine et les couleurs subtiles des pastels secs accompagnent le tracé... et voilà l’âme du dessin qui apparaît.

The intensity of the line with its flowing gesture and its intimacy is what talks to me. The earth colors, the blood red, the olive green, the warm grays and the soft powder blues serve to intensify a movement or a line. What moves me? The urgency to capture the subject in one sweeping gesture. The subtle colors of the pastels sustain the gesture...and then the soul of the drawing appears.
